Household Hazards

There are many everyday household items which are poisonous to dogs. Here are a few you may not have considered…

Sugar substitute unsafe for dogs:
Xylitol is a substitute sweetener found in many sugar free products. If ingested by dogs it can cause a drop in blood sugar. According to an ASPCA spokesperson, this could lead to a loss of coordination and even to seizures.

No grapes:
Small amounts of grapes and raisins, if ingested, can cause kidney damage to dogs.

Put the dryer sheets away:
Fabric softener sheets should be kept away from dogs. Even if a small part of the sheet is ingested it may cause vomiting, excessive drooling, and muscle twitches.
